According to the EBLIDA Constitution (Chapter 3, Article 29), the members of the Executive Committee shall be elected by the Council for a period of two years. EBLIDA elected its Executive Committee and President for 2003-2005 at its Council meeting in Uppsala in May 2003 [see Item 11. Elections of the Executive Committee 2003-2005]. This means that EBLIDA will re-elect its Executive Committee and President for 2005-2007 at its next Council meeting, to be held in Cork, Ireland on 13 and 14 May 2005.
The Executive Committee shall consist of at least four and no more than ten Full Members of the Association, subject to the decision of the Council and the Chairperson of the Association (Article 34). There are currently six vacancies on the Executive Committee for the period 2005-2007. As cited in Article 31 of the Constitution, the members of the Executive Committee, with the exception of its Chairperson, are Full Members of the Association (vide artt.4 and 5).
At least two weeks before the Council meeting, each interested full member is to notify the Secretariat in writing of its wish to stand. The notification should contain the NAME OF THE PERSON WHO WILL REPRESENT THE MEMBER in the Executive Committee after its election as well as a SUBSTITUTE REPRESENTATIVE and should be signed on behalf of the full member and by its representative to be.
PLEASE NOTE that an elected member on the Executive Committee wishing to change his representative during the term is authorised to do so as long as this change is notified in writing to the Secretariat. Furthermore, a representative can be re-appointed consecutively only once.
The Chairperson of the Association shall be elected on the basis of a nomination, in writing and signed at least by three full members (Article 33). Nominations should be notified to the Secretariat at least two weeks before the Council meeting for which the elections are announced.
The EBLIDA Secretariat in turn will notify the EBLIDA members of the aforesaid notifications.
On 26 January 2005, the EBLIDA Secretariat invited Full Members of the Association to nominate their representatives for the election of EBLIDA Executive Committee and President, in writing. The enclosed nomination form is to be returned to the Secretariat, together with a short biography or CV of the nominee (in English), by Friday 22 April 2005 at the latest. A list of current Executive members eligible for the period 2005-2007 was also enclosed (see the list here).
Associate Members have been informed [see letter here] since only Full Members’ representatives have a voting right.
PLEASE NOTE that the Council shall make every effort to ensure a well-balanced composition of its Executive Committee, both geographically and with a view to the major professional concerns of the Association.
